UPDATE
One of the focuses and emphases while we were training for ministry at the Our Generation Training Center is the part about training. We were taught that it is essential for a church-planting missionary to know that as soon as he gets to the field his days are counted. The missionary has 4 years from the moment he arrives to the moment he goes back on furlough, during which he must get a church started and have a man, that God has called into ministry, trained in order to take over this church that has become indigenous (Self-Supporting, Self-Propagating, Self- Governing.) Since before we arrived in Colombia, we have prayed for God to already begin working in the hearts of the people in Colombia so that when we arrived that there would be free course to win souls for Christ, to disciple people, to teach them how to serve God, and to teach them how to train others so that they can reproduce themselves in other people.
God has been answering that prayer already. Duvan, the young man on the far left in the picture, has been called by God to start training to be a pastor.
Since we started the church here in Colombia, we have also been praying to God for a young man that has the desire to study the Bible, to be serving at the church, and to desire to learn more and more about our God. We believe our God has answered that prayer in Duvan. We ask you to please pray for him, as he has family that is not content with the decision he has made, but he whole heartedly believes that this is what God wants him to do. While there are years of training before he will be ordained into the ministry, we are praying to God that He keeps Duvan strong, knowing that the devil will try to discourage him and try to destroy his life.
I also ask you to please pray for the young man you see on the far right. His name is Pablo. He is Duvan’s friend and we are currently studying about salvation with him. While he is not ready to make a decision yet, we know he is very close to accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior.
