Honduras

“But you need to be the one to decide to carry the Gospel to them, so they can live.”

A poor country in Central America, nestled between Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, Honduras has been plagued by years of crime, poverty, and violence, There are definitely no storybook fairytale endings here.

With a population near the 10 million mark, and 90% being below the age of 54, Honduras is in need of the gospel because time is not on their side. Honduras is home to one of the most dangerous cities in the world, San Pedro Sula.

With a homicide rate of 51.18 per 100,000 people, death is always on the minds of many Hondurans. The one thing that counteracts, and even conquers death, is the gospel message. Christ has conquered death, hell, and the grave, and much of Honduras has yet to hear. You may ask, “but don’t they have churches?” The answer is a resounding yes, but the problem is the message and doctrine that are being taught in those churches. Honduras is religious, yet the large majority believe in the works-based salvation taught by the Catholic church. Other denominations and cults have flooded many of the towns and cities, also preaching the damnable heresy of works-based salvation. What Honduras needs, along with all of Latin America, is for some young people to surrender their lives to a sacrificial calling, giving up many of the comforts of home and abandoning selfish desires. We need young people to give themselves to a life of proclaiming Christ in a quickly perishing country.
