CHICLAYO
In fifteen sixty, a Spanish priest founded the city of Chiclayo as a rural Indian village. Now, Chiclayo is often considered the capital city of the northwest region of Peru. This ancient city is known for being the business hub of northern Peru since the city’s unique location brings together routes from the coast, highlands, and jungle.
Chiclayo’s unique landscape allows the city to be a major producer of sugarcane, cotton, and rice for the Lambayeque region of Peru.
While Chiclayo is home to luxurious beaches, perhaps the city’s most note-worthy attraction is the tomb of the famous ruler of Moche, Lord of Sipan.
With jobs in critical industries and the wealth created by the city, Chiclayo naturally has become one of the most populated cities of Peru. Chiclayo is the fourth largest city in the country of Peru, with a population of just over half a million people in the city itself. However, with the city’s continued growth, it is estimated that there are nearly nine hundred thousand people in the metropolitan area. Chiclayo is blessed to have at least one faithful missionary preaching the Gospel. However, with so many hundreds of thousands of people, the need for more laborers is still great! Will you pray with us that the Lord will raise more laborers for His harvest? Will you pray with us for the city of Chiclayo?
