So is deputation as challenging as they say?

I was told from my teenage years through most of my twenties that deputation was hard for several reasons:

You are constantly away from friends and family, you never know if you will receive a love offering, you never know what kind of place you will stay in for the night, and, of course, you won’t have a steady paycheck as you would with a job. I think I understand what was being said at that time, but after traveling for only one month on full time deputation, I can honestly say that it has been fun and exciting!

Bridgette and I are incredibly blessed to be a part of God’s awesome work. We are humbled that God would call us to missions. Now we are finally able to live out the dreams and desires that God has given us. Our first phase of getting to Colombia, South America is here: Deputation.
We have traveled for 6 weeks now, have been in 15 different churches, and have met God’s people in 5 different states. There have already been several churches who have promised to partner with us. So what is our take after traveling for our first month? Exciting!
We have smiled, laughed, and been burdened. Bridgette and I have made new friends along the way. God has taken care of our financial needs, and, although every place has been different, we have enjoyed everywhere we have been.

We have enjoyed being a part of each service and serving where we can. I have preached and given the Gospel. We have shared our testimonies and driven thousands of miles, all while keeping our eyes on the Lord for the purpose of reaching Colombia.
We know it has only been a month, but as we look back, the start of our deputation has been both encouraging and exciting! “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8. “If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” 1 Peter 2:3
Would you pray for us even now? These are some specific requests that we have:

  1. Our marriage would continue to stay strong in the Lord.
  2. God would continue to increase the number of churches who partner with us. Would you prayerfully consider this as well?
  3. For God to use us in a big way on our deputation to lead souls to Christ and encourage pastors and churches.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Bridgette and I are expecting a child! Bridgette is 5 weeks along today. And just to show some excitement… it’s definitely, most likely, for sure going to be a girl! But Bridgette seems to think it will be a boy. Let us know what you think God will give us!
